2000 - 2005 Impalas

The Impala returned in the new millennium as a midsize front-wheel-drive V6 (204-ci, 180-hp or 231-ci 200-hp) replacement for the Lumina (discontinued after 2001), and once again seemed to hit exactly the right mix of practical performance desired by American consumers.

A supercharged SS (231-ci, 240-hp) would arrive in 2004. Lighter and less muscled than the 1990s incarnation, the new SS was actually faster, doing the 0-60 in about 6.5 seconds.
