1959 - 1960 Impalas
Cat eye tail lamps, dummy scoops, acres of chrome, and bigger-than-ever fins were the trademarks of the 1959 Impala, now completely redesigned from the first-year 1958 model. Detroit's Big Three had all embraced overstated styling, and the buying public loved it, with the Impala becoming the best-selling Chevy of the era.
1960 saw a revision of the 1959 design, but the fins remained, although now slightly more squared-off. The triple taillights returned and would remain an signature feature of the Impala throughout most of the 1960s. |
