2004 - 2006 GTOs
Amid the nostalgic muscle car arms race of the mid-2000's—already crowded by bold, modern incarnations of the Ford Mustang, Chrysler 300, Dodge Magnum, and Dodge Charger—came Pontiac's new take on the GTO, which was in essence a rebadged Holden Monaro from the Australian market.
Although the new car's styling was criticized as tame, under the skin the muscle itself was worthy, pushing 350-hp from the Corvette's LS1 engine in 2004 and 400-hp from the LS2 in 2005 and 2006. But lightning didn't strike twice for Pontiac, and the program was canceled after 2006. |
